IKEA specifically warns that modifying its products can affect their structural integrity and void guarantees.

Drilling new holes, cutting panels or substituting hardware without knowing the product design can affect fit and strength.

Wall Anchoring Is Part of the Safety Check

Tall or narrow furniture can become a tip-over risk if it is not secured as the manufacturer requires.
